Migration Policy
Effective Date: 27-01-2026
This Migration Policy explains how Under Construction Technologies handles website and email data transfers between hosting providers. This policy applies to all new and existing clients requesting migration services.
1. What Is a Migration?
A migration refers to the transfer of:
- Website files and databases
- Email accounts, folders, and messages
- Domain DNS configurations (where applicable)
between hosting providers or servers.
2. Is Migration Included?
- A single basic migration may be included for new hosting clients, subject to feasibility.
- All other migrations are not included in standard hosting or email plans.
3. Migration Costs
All migration work is billed as development/support services at our standard rate:
- Website & Email Migration: R650 per hour
Costs depend on:
- Website size and complexity
- Number of email accounts
- Total email storage usage
- Source and destination hosting providers
- DNS propagation requirements
An estimate will be provided before any work begins.
4. Email Migration Rules
- Email migrations include mailbox contents, folders, and messages where technically possible.
- Each mailbox includes 3GB of standard storage.
- Larger mailboxes or accounts exceeding 3GB may increase migration time and costs.
- We cannot guarantee the migration of:
- Corrupted mailboxes
- Proprietary or locked systems
- Unsupported third-party platforms
5. Downtime & Service Interruptions
- We aim to minimize downtime; however, temporary interruption of website or email services may occur.
- DNS changes are subject to third-party propagation delays.
- We are not responsible for delays caused by external providers.
6. Client Responsibilities
Clients are responsible for:
- Maintaining their own backups before migration
- Providing valid login credentials and access
- Confirming email addresses and domain ownership
- Approving downtime windows if required
Failure to provide accurate information may delay or prevent successful migration.
7. No Guarantee Clause
We make best efforts to migrate data successfully, but:
- We do not guarantee 100% data completeness.
- We are not responsible for data loss caused by:
- Third-party hosting limitations
- Pre-existing data corruption
- Unsupported software or outdated systems
8. Migration After Termination or Non-Payment
- If services were terminated due to cancellation, data may be retained for up to 14 days.
- If services were terminated for non-payment, data may be immediately deleted.
- Migration requests after termination are subject to:
- Data availability
- Outstanding balance settlement
- Hourly migration fees
9. Third-Party Providers
Migration services depend on third-party hosting providers, control panels, and APIs. We are not responsible for limitations or restrictions imposed by these providers.
10. Declining or Refusing Migration Requests
We reserve the right to refuse migration requests if:
- The system is unsupported or insecure
- The request poses operational or legal risks
- Required access is not provided
11. Acceptance of Policy
Requesting migration services constitutes acceptance of this Migration Policy.
